Bags, Bags and more Bags

I'm putting these up to show a few who have asked. Anyone that has comments on what kind of bag they would like to have, suggestions on design - anything is welcomed! Here are the latest two creations. I really like the blue and green one, it was made out of a thrifted skirt. The fun part is I get to see it put to good use, as a girl at church brings it each week. The green and white was made out of 2 thrifted shirts. It is smaller -I put more pockets on the inside this time, a place for pens, another for a cell phone, and two larger ones for whatever, plus two outside pockets. It has many mistakes but I learned a lot about what to do on the next one, so I guess that is the point.

Pumpkin Carving

Halloween is fast approaching and we had some fun carving our pumpkins today. Can you guess who carved each one? This is the first year Kate wanted to carve instead of paint. Took her a minute to want to touch the insides but she quickly became a pro cleaner. I really think this next picture is the kind of picture they'll love when they are older, ya know the ones that end up in the video played at their wedding. Sweet siblings. It was a good day. We attempted a Halloween craft this week. Kate likes to do anything if you call it a project so lately we try to do something fun during Jack's nap. I like it because she has fun, I don't have to worry about Jack getting into it all and I usually do my own project/sew at the same time - fun for all. This one was really easy, just a pot turned upside down, it is sopposed to have a wiggly smile drawn with a silver pen but we didn't have a pen that would show up.

Go Bucks!

Ray took his Dad to the OSU game on Saturday. They had a good time, the weather turned out nice except that they were in the shade which was quite a bit cooler. Here are some pictures that Ray took. Grandpa's camera has a much better zoom and got an impressive picture of the band guy that bends back and touches the feather to the ground - I'm not sure if he has an official name or not. They said the whole band was pretty impressive and of course the football too - Go Bucks!

Airplanes and Pumpkins!

On Tuesday we went to the National Air Force Museum. It is so fun to see how aircraft has devoloped over the years. It is a huge museum, 3 large hangers full of aircraft. Then on Wed we went toe 100th Circleville Pumpkin Show. We have been looking forward to this show since last year and were so excited to find out it was the same weekend Gma and Gpa would be here. You can get so many different kinds of food flavored pumpkin. We only tried the pumpkin fudge and pumpkin blossoms (the pumpkin flower dipped in batter and deep fried). The fudge was pretty tasty- similar to candy corn with spice and the blossom was....interesting but worth trying. Here are the kids and I in front of the Stealth Fighter. I took this picture because I liked the cute little strollers they had - the kids liked them too! What Grandpa would look like as an astronaut!

Here are some of the interesting pumpkins at the festival. These are grown in a mold - obviously. If you can't tell from the picture, they are shaped like a head. Here is the winning pumpkin.

Week O' Fun!

We have been having a fun week. The much anticipated arrival of Grandma and Grandpa finally came! Kate and Jack acted like no time had passed since we last saw them. Kate says "It's Grandpa cuddle time" and hops next to him on the couch for some cuddles. I've taken a record number of photos in the last 7 days to try to capture every sweet moment I've seen between granparents and grandkids. I've always had great relationships with my Grandparents and can see that my kids will have the same with theirs. We still have 2 days left to have fun. Ray is taking them down to the school tomorrow for eye exams which I know he has been looking forward to for a long time. And of course they tracked down tickets to the football game on Sat. so the boys are looking forward to that. Grandpa purchased his first OSU shirt so he will blend right into the crowd. Here are a few photos of our happenings in the last week.Here is Kate just staring under the door, waiting so patiently for Grandma and Grandpa to wake up the first morning they were here. On Saturday we took a hayride out to a little pumpkin patch. The hayride dropped us off at the corn maze. Here's the kiddos making their way out to the patch. Ray and Jack picking pumpkins. Snuggles while watching something interesting. Grandma is always willing to get down and play with the kids - boy do they love her!

Latest project

We found this skirt while thrift shopping a few weeks ago. I was going to use the print for a lining of a bag but Kate saw it and asked for a dress. It worked out well and only took about an hour to do. The print is hard to see, it's navy blue with tiny white polka dots. I love having a girl!

See Eric Run

I have to say Congratulations to my brother Eric. He doesn't just run marathons, he runs them fast!!! He just ran the St. George marathon in 2h:59m:46s. Amazing right? If you want to check out his reults click here. It gives all kinds of statistics like he was 127th with 4,611 finishers behind him.

Time Out

Ray had a night alone with the kids for the first time while I went to Time Out for Women on Friday. I didn't worry for a second and that made the time away even better. They had a great time playing at the park, baking cupcakes and watching The Little Mermaid many times over. I had so much fun staying with friends at a hotel, playing games, laughing hard enough to skip sit-ups all week and just being silly - We're really just not silly enough as we get old! Oh, and the conference was uplifting, fun and well worth it all. My favorite part was the music by Hillary Weeks. I'm already looking forward to the next one. Here are a few pictures from our weekend. Here is the whole group , I think there may be a few people missing from this picture, there were about 42 of us. In the morning, just arriving at the conference. Me,Heather,Toni,Robin,Jami,Erin,Trisha. At our hotel, we were all thankful to Wendy for getting us a great hotel - our room was 2 stories! It wasn't even that late yet and it was getting a little outa control!

Future Goat Herder?

3 visits to the zoo in a week, that's got to be a record for us. This time we stopped in at the petting zoo. Jack just follows the goats around and bends over leaning towards them like he wants to get a closer look and have a little chat. I think he's pretty goofy. I decided we had enough after he started stomping on their feet. Then just as we were leaving he put his face to the ground to take a lick of the liquid - ick! What can you do but laugh? I mean why wouldn't you taste something right off the ground, he was probably thirsty! I took quite a few pictures and couldn't narrow them down so here are just a few of my favorites. Sunday at the Races

We hit a big garage sale on Fri and found our last needed items for the winter. Of course we don't ever leave a garage sale without Kate finding something fun. She did good this time, she found a remote control motorcycle. It's called Zip n' Zoom Shannen and works great. In fact Ray had ordered those mini remote cars and they came in the mail on the same day. Kate's works much better, was cheaper and frankly a bit cuter. So being the competitive folks that we are we set up a course today. The rules were you had to navigate Zip n' Zoom Shannen from a seated position and it was best out of 3. We failed to decide if it was the best overall time or the average of all 3 - so we're both winners! Here are our results (in seconds):
